BIOGRAPHY
Margeaux A. Huffines-Keener, is a Ceramic Artist living in Richmond, Virginia. Ever since she was a small child, Margeaux, has loved stories and making art with her hands. She has fond memories of listening to stories of adventure, magic, tragedy, love, morality, and mystery, before bedtime. Like the fables she loved to hear, her parents taught her to look beyond the exterior of a person to see the beauty within instead of the outside. She is known for willingness to accept others, work diligently, her eagerness to succeed and determination to never give up. As an adult, she fuses her own life story, beloved fairytale stories of her youth, and her skills in clay to make art work. She makes fantastical works that demonstrate both the light and dark sides of our humanity. They are meant to be an exploration of the blurring lines morality, reality, and of fiction in life.
Margeaux, is currently a student finishing her BFA degree in Craft and Material Studies Program with a focus in Ceramics and Minor in Art History, at Virginia Commonwealth University’s, School of the Arts, in Richmond, VA. Recently, she has participated in Tasmeem, a Biennial, Hybrid Making Conference in Doha, Qatar. She has been presented with several awards for her hard work and dedication to the arts and academics; earning the Dean’s Honor List every semester. Her work has been shown several times throughout her college career. Her work was shown this year at the American Craft Counsel Conference in Baltimore, MD and has art work currently being shown at Art Space and the Anderson Gallery Juried Show.
